Sand casting
The processing method of pouring molten metal into a mold cavity in the shape of a casting, and taking out the finished product after the metal is cooled, is commonly known as sand casting or sand mold casting. Each sand mold can only be used once, which belongs to destructive casting. Mainly cast steel, aluminum alloy and copper. The operation process is as follows:
Three essentials of sand mould casting (sand foundry): model, sand mould, sand core
Shrinkage margin
Die casting
Hot cell method: suitable for non-ferrous metals tin, lead, and zinc with low melting point. Cold room method: suitable for non-ferrous metals aluminum, magnesium and copper with low melting point. Commonly used in automotive aluminum alloy steel rims, gearboxes or magnesium alloy computer casings.
Low pressure casting
The castings are relatively dense, pure in quality, precise in size, high in yield, and low in waste loss.
Gravity casting
The cast castings do not contain sand, have smooth surface, precise size, no porosity, and fine structure. The manufacturing cost is relatively high, the model structure is more complicated, and it is only suitable for the shortcomings of small and medium-sized castings. Manufacturing parts include aluminum and copper castings such as automobile and motorcycle pistons, tire aluminum rims, etc.
Slush casting
No sand core is used to manufacture hollow castings, so no core casting method is used. Most of them are low melting alloys such as lead and zinc. Used to manufacture hollow castings such as statues and decorations.
Disadvantages:
Cannot be used for asymmetrical castings. The specific gravity segregation of copper and aluminum-magnesium alloy is not applicable. Three ways of centrifugal casting True centrifugal- Horizontal centrifugal casting: cast pipe used for water pipes. Vertical centrifugal casting: bushing, cylinder liner. Semi-centrifugal-train wheels, gears Centrifugal casting-not limited to the symmetry of castings, it can be produced in multiple molds at the same time and mass production.
Investment casting
The casting size is accurate and the surface is smooth, which is suitable for castings with complex shapes. Used for turbine blades, medical-artificial joints, silver teeth, and products with limited size.

Centrifugal casting Also known as precision casting, for thin-walled processing difficulties and complex shapes or small castings.Advantage: Using centrifugal force to throw the molten metal to the die surface, the surface of the casting has good mechanical properties. Impurities are concentrated in the center of the casting and removed by machining. Hollow castings can be made without sand cores. Centrifugal force can make the metal fill better. Accurate size, suitable for mass production.
