The characteristics and uses of stainless steel types
The addition of different chemical
alloy composition
can be classified
into the following two types of stainless steel: 1. Nickel chromium system to add nickel, chromium two alloys mainly, 300 series of Vostian iron system and 600 series of hardened stainless steel belong to.
The 600 series is not widely used in stainless steel. 300 series stainless steel contains a certain amount of nickel, chromium alloy, non-magnetic and can resist high temperature corrosion, so its most widely used, with 304, 316 production capacity is the largest.
2. Chromium system,
the so-called 400 series of stainless steel, the chemical composition does not contain nickel or nickel content is less than 2.5%. Usually in 400 series stainless steel because it does not contain nickel, so it is magnetic, but corrosion resistance is worse than 300 series, less suitable for corrosive environment. But 400 pairs of chlorides (e.g. saline... The corrosion resistance is better than that of the 300 series.
Stainless steel is widely used, but the most commonly used are only SUS 304, 316, 304L, 316L (Vostian iron system, not magnetic) and SUS-430 (fat grain iron system, magnetic) and so on.
Common stainless steel rounding:
Series 200: Chromium-Nickel-Manganese, SUS201 for industrial use:
low cost, very low nickel content, poor anti-rust effect, high-component manganese to increase ductability. Often used in industrial use of industrial grade stainless steel, such as iron windows, iron doors, beams and columns.
SUS202: with basic acid-base capacity, because of the low price, often become 304 stainless steel substitutes, heating easy to precipitate manganese, not suitable for tableware.
Series 300: Chromium-Nickel, Food GRADE
SUS301: Good ductability for molding products. Good welding, wear resistance and fatigue strength is better than 304 stainless steel, products such as: springs, steel construction, wheel cover.
SUS302: Corrosion resistance is the same as 304, due to the relatively high carbon content, better strength.
SUS303: Add a small amount of sulfur and phosphorus to make it easier to cut than 304.
SUS304: Common models, mainly 18 (chromium)/8 (nickel) and 18/10 stainless steel. Products such as: corrosion-resistant containers, tableware, furniture, railings, medical equipment. For non-magnetic, when the impurities content is high, after processing occasionally appear weak magnetism.
SUS304 L: with 304 the same characteristics, low-carbon so more corrosion-resistant, heat-prone treatment, but less mechanical, suitable for welding and heat treatment products.
SUS304 N: The same characteristics as 304, is a nitrogen-containing stainless steel, steel strength is high.
SUS309: Better temperature resistance than 304.
SUS309 S: chromium, nickel content is more, so heat resistance, antioxidant, products such as: heat exchangers, boiler components, injection engines.
SUS310 S: chromium, nickel content is more, so heat resistance, oxidation is the best, products such as: heat exchangers, boiler components, motor equipment.
SUS316: The second most widely used steel type, adding tantalum elements to enable it to obtain a special corrosion-resistant structure, mainly used in the food industry and surgical equipment. Because it has better resistance to chloride corrosion than 304, it is also used as "marine steel". 18/10 Stainless steel usually meets this application level. For chemical, coastal and other corrosive environment, ship assembly, building materials.
SUS316 L: low-carbon so more corrosion-resistant, heat-prone treatment, products such as: chemical processing equipment, nuclear power generators, refrigerant tanks.
SUS321: The addition of titanium reduces the risk of corrosion of material welds, and other properties are similar to 304 and are suitable for welding winemaking equipment, steam pipes, and aerospace parts.
SUS347: Adds stabilization element palladium for welding aircraft parts and chemical equipment.
400 series: nickel-free, food grade
SUS408: good heat resistance, weak corrosion resistance.
SUS409: The cheapest model, commonly used as a car exhaust pipe, oil equipment.
SUS410: Good wear resistance, poor corrosion resistance, suitable for helping Pu. Raw materials are cheaper and magnetic. General uses include bearings, medical appliances and knives.
SUS416: Add sulfur to improve material processing performance.
SUS420: contains high carbon, hardness, higher strength, is a blade grade stainless steel, can do very bright, suitable for knives, springs, surgical appliances, razor cutting head, valve.
SUS430: 16 to 18 percent chromium, low carbon content. This stainless steel has magnetic, good molding, but poor temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, suitable for fastening parts, tableware, furniture supplies.
SUS434: Contains tantalum elements, so corrosion resistance is better than 430, suitable for tableware, wipers, car decoration.
SUS440: High-strength bladed steel with slightly higher carbon content, is the hardest stainless steel. The most common example of application is the "shaving blade".
